Anno; Domini One Thousand Seven Hundred and thirty Seven BETWEEN John Phillips of the County of Hunterdon of the one Part and the Commissioners of the Loan Office of the County of Hunterdon on the other part, WITNESSETH, That the said John Phillips for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty pounds by the Commissioners of the Loan-Office of the County of Hunterdon to him well and truly in Hand paid, whereof, he grants the Receipt, and acknowledges himself to be therewith contented, and for himself his Heirs, Executors and Administrators, releases and discharges The Commissioners of the Loan Office of the County of Hunterdon and their successors thereof forever Hath Granted, Bargained, Sold, Released, Enc—and confirmed, and by these Presents Doth Grant, Bargain, Sell, Release, Enc--- and Confirm to the Commissioners of the Loan-Office of the County of Hunterdon and their Successors and Assigns forever, all that Tract of Land Farm & plantation Situate Lying & being in the Township of Hopewell & is Butted & Bounded as follows Viz. Beginning at a stone in the out Side line & his for a Corner between the land of the sd John Phillips & John McGloughlin & Joyce his wife then North thirteen Chains & a half to apost then No West four Chains & Eighty links to a hickory tree then North S— Deg. West twenty chains to a post thence West four Chains & Eighty links to a post then So Sixty Degs. West four chains and a half to a black oak then W Eighteen Chains & a half to a water beach then So Seventy Degs. West nineteen chains to a black oak then So forty f-- Degs. East thirty three Chains & a half to a post then East Chains to the first post containing one hundred & twenty acres of Land Together with all and all Manner of Woods, Under-Woods, Trees, Mines, Minerals, Quarries, Hawkings, Huntings, Fowlings, Fishings, Buildings, Fences, Improvements, Hereditaments and Appurtenances whatsoever to the same belonging, or in any ways appertaining; and all the Estate, Right, Title, Interest, Possession, Property, Claim and Demand of the said John Phillips and his Hiers to the above bargained premises and every Part thereof, to HAVE and to HOLD the above bargained Premises, and every Part thereof, with the Appurtenances, to the Commissioners of the Loan Office of the County of Hunterdon and their Successors ad Assigns forever, to the Uses and Purposes mentioned in an Act of the General Assembly of this Province, pass’d in the Seventh Year of His Majesty’s Reign, Entitled, An Act for making Forty Thousand Pounds in Bills of Credit. And the said John Phillips for himself his Heirs, Executors and Administrators doth Covenant, Grant, Bargain and Agree to and with the Commissioners of the Loan-Office of the County of Hunterdon and their Successors, That at and before the Time of the Sealing and Delivery hereof, he the said John Phillips stood lawfully seized of the above bargained Premises of a good, sure, perfect and indeseizable Estate of Inheritance in the Law, in Fee-Simple, and that the same then were free and clear of all former and other Gifts, Grants, Bargains, Sales, Leases, Releases, Judgments, Extents, Recognizances, Dowers, Entails and other Incumbrance in the Law whatsoever. Provided always and these Presents are upon this Condition, That the said John Phillips his Heirs, Executors, Administrators or Assigns do pay or cause to be paid to the Commissioners of the Loan office of the County of Hunterdon the above Sum of Twenty pounds in the Proportions and at the Times following (To wit) The Sum of Twenty five Shillings on the Twenty-fifth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty- eight. And the Sum of Twenty five Shillings on the Twenty-fifth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty-nine. And the Sum of Twenty five Shillings on the Twenty-fifth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty. And the Sum of Twenty five Shillings on the Twenty-fifth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty-one. And the Sum of Twenty five Shillings on the Twenty-fifth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty-two. And the Sum of Twenty five Shillings on the Twenty-fifth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty-three. And the Sum of Twenty five Shillings on the Twenty-fifth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty-four. And the Sum of Twenty five Shillings on the Twenty-fifth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty-five. And the Sum of Twenty five Shillings on the Twenty-fifth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty- six. And the Sum of Twenty five Shillings on the Twenty-fifth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty-eight. And the Sum of Twenty five Shillings on the Twenty-fifth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty-nine. And the Sum of Twenty five Shillings on the Twenty-fifth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty. And the Sum of Twenty five Shillings on the Twenty-fifth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty-one. And the Sum of Twenty five Shillings on the Twenty-fifth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty- two. And the Sum of Twenty five Shillings on the Twenty-fifth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty-three; and shall at every of the said Term of Payment, according to the true Intent and Meaning of the said Act of General Assembly of this Province, Then the above Grant, Bargain, and Sale, and every Article and Clause thereof shall be void; But if Failure is made in any of the payments above mentioned, then the above Bargain and Sale is to remain in full Force and Virtue. And the said John Phillips for himself his Heirs and Assigns doth agree to be absolutely barred of all Equity of Redemption of the Premises, within Thirty Days after such Failure, And the said John Phillips for himself his Heirs, Executors and Administrators Doth Covenant, Grant, Bargain, Promise and Agree to and with the Commissioners of the Loan-Office of the County of Hunterdon and their Successors, Well and truly pay to them all and every the Sums of Money above-mentioned, at the Times on which the same ought to be paid as aforesaid; and the above-bargained Premises, upon the sale thereof, pursuant to the Directions of the said Act, will yeild the Principal and Interest aforesaid, remaining unpaid, at the Time of such Sale, together with the Charges for such Sale. In Witness whereof the Parties to these Present Indentures have interchangeably set their Hands and Seals the Day and Year above-written.
