The submittor has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ************************************************************************ Will of Gideon Rowzer In the Name of God Amen the fourteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Eightythree I Gideon Rowzer of the Township of amwell in the county of Hunterdon and State of west new Jersey yet being sick and very weak of body But of a Sound and Disposing mind and memory Thanks be given to God therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die Do make and ordain this my last will and testament and Desire it may be received by all as such that is to say principally and first of all I recommend my Soul into the hand of almighty God that gave it and as for my body I do recommend it too the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter mentioned and named.nothing Doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I Give Devise Bequeath and Dispose of the same in the manner and form (viz) and first I will that all my Just and Lawfull Debts and funeral charges shall be paid out of the money arising from my personal Estate I ____ I give and bequeath unto my beloved grandson Henry Rowzer eldest son to my beloved son Mertin Rowzer Dec. who I acknowledge to be my eldest son and heir by law to my estate the sum of five shillings in gold or silver to be paid to him by my executor when he arrives to the age of twenty one years in consideration of his birth right. Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Catherine Keever and to her heirs and assigns forever the sum of one Hundred pounds over and above what I have already given her to be paid to her in gold silver in eighteen months after my decease. Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Elisabeth Moor and to her heirs and assigns forever one Hundred pounds over and above what I have already given her to be paid unto her in gold or silver in eighteen months after my decease. Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved son John Rowzer the sum of five pounds to be paid to him in gold or silver in eighteen months after my decease. Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Hannah Jones and to her heirs and assigns forever the sum of one hundred and fiftey pounds over and above what I have already given her to be paid to her in gold or silver in eighteen months after my decease. Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Jacob Rowzer and to his heirs and assigns forever the plantation wheron I now live with all it appurtenances and also the horse and mare which is well known by being called his horse and mare. Item further my will is that all my personal or moveable Estate shall be sold at public sale as soon after my decease as is decent conveniency will admit in order to raise money to pay the above recited legacies Item further if after the above recited legacies are paid out of the amount of the sale of the movable estate there should be any overplus money yet remaining all such overplus money shallbe paid to my three daughters in a proportionable dividend to each legatee according to each of the daughters legacy but no addition to the boys legacies. Item lastly I do constitute ordain and appoint my beloved son Jacob Rowzer devize in this my last will and testament and James Jones my loving son in law both of Amwell above aforesaid my whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament . And I do hereby uterly _____ revoke and ______ ___________ _________ and forever wills testament legacies and executed by me before this time made. willed and bequeathed rectifying and conferming this and no other to be my last will and testament.
