All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nj/njfiles.htm ************************************************ Hunterdon County Wills 1742 In the Name of God Amen the twenty fifth Day of November Anno Dominiy one thousand Seven hundred and forty two I Stephen Pitcock of Amwell in the County of Hunterdon and Western Division of New Jersey plantation man Being Sickly and weak in Body but in Good and perfect Memory thanks be to God for the Same Do make this My Last will and testament in manner and form following that is to Say first I bequeath My soul and Spirit Into the hands Almighty God my heavenly father by whom of his M--r and only Grace I trust to be Saved and Received In to the Eternal Bliss through the Death of my Lourd and Redeemer Jesus Christ In whose precious Blood I put the whole and any hope of my Salvation My Body In hope of a joyfull resurrection I commit to the Earth to be Buryed With Such --- and by Such --- as My Dear friends shall think good and as to touching --- --- my goods I Depose of the Same as followeth first I will that all my Just Debts shall be truly payed as My Funerall Charges and as to the rest and Residue of my Estate My will and op--- is that It Shall be Equily Divided between My two Sons John Pitcock and Thomas Pitcock Each having a Share a Like of my Estate both Real and personal and Last of all I do apoint my Loving friends Thomas Kitchen and William Barnes to be My Executor In this My last will and testament Ratifying avowing and Confirming this and No other to be My Last will and testament --- proclaiming and Declaring the Same --- --- of the persons whose Names are here and so Written Stephen Pitcock Sealed and Delivered in the presence of the Same Edward Rockhill Andrew pettit Jacob Knowles Thomas Thatcher Thomas Thacher one of the witnesses to the above will being duly sworn did depose that he saw Stephen Pitcock the Testator in the above Will named sign and seal the same and heard him publish pronounce & declare the above written Instrument to be his last Will & Testament & that at the Doing thereof the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind Memory & understanding so far as he knows & verily believes & that at the same time Edward Rockhill Andrew Pettit Jacob Knowles --- the other Witnesses were present & sign'd their names as witnesses to the same together with this Deponent in the presence of the Deponent Thomas Thatcher Sworn at Burlington this 20th Day of December --- before me Joseph Ross Surrogate
