All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nj/njfiles.htm ************************************************ Will of Timothy Titus Lib. 8 p. 432 In the Name of God Amen this twenty fifth Day of April in the Year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundrd. & fifty seven, I Timothy Titus of Hopewell being weak in body but of Perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God therefor, Calling to mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is Appointed for all mend once to Die do make and Ordain this my last Will and testament; that is to say Principally and first of all I have and recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it, & for my body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christianlike and decent manner, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty Power of God; and as to such worldly Estate wherewith it hath Pleased God to bless me in this life I give, Devise & Dispose of the same in the following manner and form Viz. Imprimus I order that my just debts and funeral charges by paid by my Execrs.Item I give and Bequeath unto my beloved Wife Mary one Bed and furniture, one iron Pot, one Chest, the Pewter, Brass and other utensils that she brot with her when I married her; and also four Pounds a year Yearly during the time she remains my widow, all this in lieu of her --- or Dower; alto at the marriage or decease of my sd Wife tis my will and I hereby Order that the principal (of the hard Annuity) be Equally divided, the one half among my sons, the other half among my Daughters - Furthermore, I hereby Order that my whole Estate, Real and Personal, lands and minerals be sold (Except such movables as are given to my wife as above) and Converted into money in Such Convenient Time after my decease at the discretion of my Exrs reserving only one Eighth Part of the mines, Equally for the benefit of my three sons. Viz Timothy, Phillip & Dennis Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Sons Timothy, Phillip & Dennis, to Each one hundred Pounds; and likewise I give unto my Daughters, Susanna, Jemima, Phebe and Mary to Each twenty Pounds and twenty Pounds to the children of my Daughter Hannah late deceased; and if Phillip who is now abroad does not come Home within Seven Years, that then his Part or share be Equally divided among my other children both sons and daughters; and if my Estate should amount to more or less than the Several legacies abovementioned; do amount to, that then the Several legatees Draw more or less in proportion to their respective shares accordingly; Furthermore I give unto my Negro man (Harry) his freedom at my decease, Willing, requiring my two sons Timothy & Dennis, to take care of him when he become Superannuated Furthermore I do hereby Constitute make and ordain my Trusty and beloved Friend, Edward Hunt & Henery Woolsey Excts of this my Will and Testament; and I do hereby revoke annull & disallow, all other former wills, legacies and Bequests by me in anywise heretofore willed or Bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.
