WALLIS, POLICE CAPTAIN, DIES SUDDENLY "Capt. William E. Wallis, head of the traffic and safety division in Madison Township Police Department, died Wednesday in Perth Amboy General Hospital. Capt. Wallis, who resided on Prospect Ave. in Lawrence Harbor section of Madison Township, was on a safety check at a resident's house shortly after arriving for work in the morning when he suffered a stroke. Born March 15, 1917, he was appointed to the force on Feb. 1, 1950 when the department was organized as a full time police force. In April, 1952, he was made a Sargeant; in May 1955, a Lieutenent. He was promoted to Captain in June, 1957. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth, and a daughter, Carol.
