I Daniel Lyon of the Township of Hanover in the County of Morris, and State of New Jersey, being of sound mind memory and understanding do make and publish this my last will and testament on this ninth day of February in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifty seven in manner and form following, that is to say. First it is my will and I do order that all my just debts and funeral expenses be duly paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently can be after my decease. Item, I give and bequeath unto my friend Abigail Cooper the sum of one hundred Dollars in addition to a just allowance for her services in compensation for her kindness and attention since she has been living with me. Item. I give, devise and bequeath unto my grandchildren, the children of my son Smith and to my children Abby, Daniel and Phebe all my estate both personal and real, to them their heirs and assigns forever. to be divided between them share and share alike. Subject to the provisions hereinafter contained. The share so as aforesaid given to my Grandchildren the children of my son Smith Lyon dec'd I do hereby order and direct shall not be paid to them by my executor until the youngest of the said children shall arrive at the age of twenty-one years, but I direct the same to be safely invested for them principal and interest as it shall accrue. And for the more easy settlement of my estate I do hereby empower and direct my executor hereinafter named to make sale of all my real estate in such manner as he shall think most expedient and to give good and sufficient title thereto, and to apply the proceeds of the sale as above directed. Lastly I hereby appoint my friend Andrew J. Smith executor of this my last will and testament.
