Earl Rodger Knighton 
Earl Rodger Knighton, 60, of Paterson, N.J., died Monday, July 23, 
2001, in St. Joseph Hospital, Paterson. Allen Funeral Home is in

Earl Rogers Knighton 
Earl Rogers Knighton, 60, of Charleston, died on July 23, 2001. The 
family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Allen Funeral 
Home. Mr. Knighton was born Oct. 5, 1940, in Charleston, a son of 
Melvin Knighton Sr. and Rosetta Oliver Knighton. He worked for Stanson 
Chemical Company for 39 years. He was a member of New A.M.E. Zion 
Church, Paterson, N.J. Surviving are a son, Bernard Battle of Lake 
Placid, Fla.; two daughters, Sharon Lynn Phillips of Hartsville, and 
Donica McClain of Bennettsville; three brothers, Edward Knighton of 
Paterson, Benjamin Knighton of Hackensack, N.J., and Melvin Knighton 
of Pamona, Calif; and five sisters, Pearl Barnwell of Seabrook, Sallie 
Carr of Wilingboro, N.J., Cherry Powell of Paterson, Rosemary Lewis of
Leavenworth, Kan., and Laura Knighton-Ketter of Hawthorne, Calif.
