Henry Volk In speaking of the death of Mr. Henry VOLK, of Oconto Falls, last week, we were unable to give any particulars. The deceased was born in the city of New York in 1832, but emigrated with his parents to Illinois when quite young. He came to Oconto County in 1857 and settled at Oconto Falls, at which place he resided up to the time of his death. He was occupied principally in operating the old saw mill which used to stand just below the falls on the west side of the river. About two years ago he formed the Union Manufacturing co., and became its president. This company pulled down the old mill and removed it to a new site a short distance above the Falls where it was rebuilt and many improvements added to it. At the same time the company commenced the erection of a very large two-story brick store building. The mill and store have been running about a year, and under the capable management of Mr. Volk were becoming a profitable property when death terminated his earthly career and transferred the management to other hands. The deceased is survived by his father, the venerable John VOLK, and five brothers: J.K., Alfred, J.C., and R.F., and two sisters, Mrs. Dan TEMPLE and Mrs. Geo TEMPLE. He also leaves eight children, as follows: Geo. W., Mrs. D.C. ELLIOT, Mrs. F.B. PERRIGO, Maggie, John H., Ed. R., Lizzie and Joseph K. VOLK. Resolution of Respect At a meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Oconto County, held September 3rd, 1890, Henry VOLK -------having departed this life August 28, 1890. An eulogy follows Inside the bible there was also a copy of an application for pension for a Mr John WOODRUFF for his service during the Revolutionary War. The copy is 4 pages long with a tracing of John's signature. John WOODRUFF is related to the BUNNS thru George Townley BUNN's wife. He was Delephene BARTHOLOMEW's maternal grandfather. It was filed in Lichfield CT.
