This document was found in the papers of my great grandmother, Fannie BUNN ARMSTRONG, she was John BUNN’s great granddaughter. All surnames have been capitalized. ---------------------------------------------------------- The Last Will and Testament of John BUNN In the name of God Amen. I, John BUNN, of the township of Bernards, County of Somerset, State of New Jersey, being of sound mind memory and understanding do make and publish this last will and testament in manner following that is to ___________. First; It is my will and I do order that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently can be after my decease. Second; I give and bequeth to my wife Catherine all of my household goods and furniture of every kind and description and likewise One thousand dollars which covenanted with her in relation to ____ _____ ____ Allowance the bond for the aforesaid one thousand dollars being in the hands of William BALLENTINE of Bernards Township it being understood that the aforesaid bond is in lieu of her dower and further my wife Catherine to occupy the house in which now reside until the first day of April 1867 and for her to receive a support and maintenance out of my estate up to the aforesaid date and further to be paid fifty dollars by my executors to purchase wearing apparel. Third; I will and order that all my estate both real and personal shall be sold by executors of which I shall hereafter receive at the earliest and most convenient time and after disbursing all indebtedness and paying the legacy herein named the residue of my estate to be equally divided among my children excepting the children here after named viz: To my son Hugh R BUNN, his part or share equally with the other children to be given to him in trust for his children and they to receive the benefits then from in their maintenance and education and at his decease to be equally divided among all his children, and to my daughter Ruth BAIRD (now deceased), formerly wife of Wm BAIRD, her share or portion equal with the other children and to be equally divided with her remaining two children Alice BUNN, and Edward L BAIRD, they the aforesaid children Alice and Edward to receive the interest of the portion of their deceased mothers until they arrive at age and then to receive the principal allotted to them but in the case of the death of one or both before arriving at age then their portion or share to go back to the estate and be equally divided among the children. Fourth; And I further will that in case of any of my children ___ in account against my estate for services or labor not consistent with the views of my executors that they be deferred their portion or share and it be divided among the remainder of the children. Fifth; I will and bequeath my interest in the house and lot of land situated in Bedminster Township __ the residence of ___ and now occupied by J___ to my sister Eliza HAIGHT wife of Benjamin HAIGHT the said Eliza to have and hold possession of my interest in said house and lot during her natural life time and at her decease to be sold and equally divided amongst my children. Lastly; I hereby appoint my son- in law David L LEWIS and my friend Roderick A MITCHELL executors of the last will and testament and guardian to my two grandchildren Alice Augusta BUNN and Edward L BAIRD during their minority.
