A native of Germany, Mr Kerner came to Elizabeth 51 years ago and was the oldest member of the Retired Men's Club of Elizabeth. He also was a member of the Elizabeth Turners. Mr Kerner was the husband of the late Mrs Caroline Koch Kerner. Survivors include a daughter, Miss Emilie M Kerner of Springfield, three sons, Paul H of Stuart, FL, Walter M of Elizabeth, and John M of Union, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. John M Kerner, former Union County Assemblyman, is a deputy compensation director for the State Department of labor.
