Dr. Best, of the New Jersey conference, was born in Warren Co., State of New Jersey, April 15, 1828. He graduated in medicine from one of the best schools in Philadelphia, in 1850. Having married Miss E. Lockart the previous year, he decided to settle in Mead­ville, where he has since been practicing his profession. In 1860 he received the Adeundem degree from the Pennsylvania Medical College. In 1870 he became a member of the Sydenham Society. Dur­ing the year he was requested by the Sec­retary of the American Academy of Medicine, to become a member, but has not had the time to comply.
