                              APPLICATION
       For Burial, or the Erection of a Headstone to Mark the 
                    Grave of an Indigent Soldier.
                    -----------------------------

To George Leon?erson
       Freeholder of the Township of Harmoney Warren County, N.J.
     Sir: - The undersigned hereby makes application for the erection of a 
headstone to mark the grave of Michael Houseman who died at Harmoney Townsp on 
15th day of February 1905, without leaving means sufficient to degray his 
funeral expenses.  He served in Company I Regiment 8 and 37, State New Jersey 
U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged therefrom on the 24th day of June 1863 
enlisted again and was discharged Aug 4th 1865.

     This is to certify, That I have been acquainted with thte deceased Michael 
Houseman above named, during his lifetime, and I believe the facts stated in the 
above application are true, and that the deceased Michael Houseman died without 
leaving means sufficient to defray his funeral expenses.
