Floyd Vogel Dies In 71st Year;
Prominent Hackettstown Citizen

    Funeral services will be held at 2o'clock  Friday afternoon in
St.James'Episcopal Church for Floyd Vogel,70,prominent Hackettstown citizen
who died early Tuesday morning.November 8,1960,at Orange Memorial
Hospital.He was taken with a heart attack Monday night at his home.504 Moore
Street,and was transported to the hospital by the Hackettstown First Aid and
Rescue Squad. From early boyhood until his retirement in 1945 Mr.Vogel was
associated with the former American Saw Mill Machinery Company here,much of
that time as plant superintendent.He was honored by the firm in 1944 for 40
yrs of service. In recent years Mr.Vogel had been engaged in retail business
on Main St,operating the Genevieve Shop with his second wife ,the former
Dorothy Bohling Dodds.His first wife died several years ago. Political
Leader Active in the Democratic party.Mr.Vogel was at one time Warren County
Chairman and was a candidate for freeholder in 1946,Prior to that he had
served three years on the Warren County Tax Board and five years during the
World War ll period on selective Service Appeal Board for the five counties
of Distric 7.He was a past chief of the Hackettstown Fire Dept,where he was
a member of Cataract House Company and also the Exempt Firemen's
Association.He had been active in the former Chamber of Commerce and was
currently a member of the Hackettstown Trade Association.the Rotary
Club.Independence Lodge No.42 F & A.M. and Eastern Star Was Born Here Born
In Hackettstown on August 30.1890. Mr.Vogel was a son of the late Stewart
and Rebecca Willever Vogel. Besides his wife he leaves a son.Robert of
St.Louis Mo.a daughter Doris wife of Eric Dittig of Pittsburgh;a
brother,Morris of Philadelphia and one grandchild. Interment will take place
in Hackettstown Union Cemetery following the service conducted by the
Rev.Clarence W.Sickles vicar of St James.Friends may call at the Cochran
Funeral Home on Washington St Thursday afternoon and evening.
