Mr Tims was born at the TIMS homestead, about a mile from town, in 1831: He was united in marriage in 1855 at the McLean homestead: at Drakestown to Miss Elizabeth McLean, by Reb, Ephraim DEYOE, pastor of the German Valley Lutheran church. At the age of 22 he went to Califorina to seek his fourtune,-returning in two years, and learned the trade of cabinet maker. In 18?6, in partenership with his brother-in-law, Amos McLEAN, He estabilished a funiture and undertaking business and the following year erected the building now used as an opera house and for fourteen continued this business with differant partners- Emanuel KEGGAN and Theo YOUNG. In 1878 he sold out to PLUMBER and KING, In 1878 he purchased a hotel in Stroudsburg, which he conducted for four years and for the next five years he was propritor of Hotel Newton, Newton. He spent the next eleven years in the hotel business in Bloomfield. In 1901 he returned this place and lived a retired life. In June, 1905 they celebrated their golden wedding, 30 relatives being present. He is survived by his wife and five children-Mrs. L. E. HEED, Montclair; Mrs. Lillian BURROUGHS, of Brooklyn; Mrs GILLSON of Philadelphia, Mrs. Collins BRYANT, Chicago, and one son John TIMS, Jr; of Indianapolis, Ind; also one brother Wesley, of Allmuchy, and six sisters, Mrs. HORO, Mrs HANKINSON, Mrs. NEAL, Mrs. RICE, Mrs HOFF, and Mrs.MARLATT. The funeral was held yesterday-Wednrsday-afternoon, A delagation from the Newton F and A.M. lodge was present. Intermeant in Union cemetery.
