Obituary of Charles W. WILLEVER (25 Mar 1927); Warren County, NJ Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by Stewart J.A.Woolever Jr http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************* Hackettstown Gazette, Friday, 25 March 1927, Obituaries, Charles W Willever: "Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at two o'clock for Charles W Willever from the home of his son, Charles where he had lived for the past thirty years. The deceased was 84 years old and a Civil War veteran. He served faithfully and honorably in Battery B of the New Jersey Light Artillery and participated in many historic battles. Mr Willever was one of three veterans of the Civil War who has honored our community by living amongst us, and it is with deep sympathy we extend our condolence to his honored children. Mr Willever was apparently in the best of health Tuesday, the day he died (22 March 1927). He had left his home twice on that day and waked down town. He was cheerful and retired about 8 o'clock. He had a stroke of paralysis at 8:45 which caused him to fall out of bed. Mrs Charles Willever went to him immediately and he stated that he was feeling sick and died shortly afterwards. He was a member of the local GAR post, the ladies of which held their ritualistic service last Wednesday at the home. Mr Willever is survived by three sons, Luther, Adam and Charles Willever. The American Legion, Blue Ridge Post, acted as pallbearers. Reverend Warren R Neff, pastor of the Methodist church, conducted the services in the midst of may floral pieces. Interment was in Union Cemetery."
