DEPPE Sylvia Pearl Deppe, 97, of Weed, NM, died on October 5 at Casa de Oro Care Center in Las Cruces, NM. A funeral service will be at the Weed gymnasium, Friday, October 8. Interment will be in Weed Cemetery. She was born on August 5, 1902, in Carlsbad, NM, to S.A. and Addie Watkins. She married Ervin (Erb) Deppe on July 14, 1920. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1958. They moved to Weed around 1925 and she was postmistress there for many years. She is survived by four generations of nieces and nephews, including great-niece Kay Needham of Artesia. She was preceded in death by brothers Tommy, Ray, Lloyd, and Charles Watkins; sisters Hattie McKinney and Florence Campbell.
