Grissom, 97, died on September 25, at Lebanon Community Hospital. She was born February 28, 1902, in Cove, Ark., to Stephen Alexander and Hattie (Smith) Winters. She married James J. Grissom on November 16, 1917, in Arkansas. She moved to Weed, NM in 1941 and on to Artesia in 1942. She was a member of Hermosa Church of Christ in Artesia. She then moved to Lebanon, Ore., in 1964. She is survived by sons Hallis Grissom of Portales, NM, James Howard of Ada, OK, H. Stephen Grissom and Herbert "Red" Grissom, both of Lebanon; daughters Dorothy Younger of Artesia and Zelpha Carter of Elgin, TX; brother Stephen Everett Winters of Aztec, NM; sister Mary Belle Merideth of Roswell, NM; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters Lenora Matilda Carter and Mildred Doanghe; brothers Bruce Winters and Lee Cobb Winters; and son Herman Wallace Grissom.
