Hollis, 75, died on September 24 at his home south of Portales. He was born on November 30, 1923, in Winniewood, OK., to Laura and Tom Hollis. He moved to Artesia in 1943 from Winniewood. He married Ida Winnell Merrell on February 25, 1947 in Carlsbad, NM. He moved to Portales in 1984. He is survived by his wife Ida Winnell Hollis of Portales; sons Carey Hollis, wife Paula, of Houston, TX, Russell Lee Hollis of Portales,and Van Hollis of Houston; daughters Ova Fagen, husband Neil, of Hobbs, and Gail Sikes, husband David, of Portales; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
