Joy of 1706 E. Main, Artesia, NM. Joy, 80, died on November 3 at Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, NM. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. He was born on June 8, 1919, in Doole, Tex., to James Francis Joy and Sara Elizabeth (Williams) Joy. He married Dorothy Elizabeth Vogel on February 17, 1943, in Artesia. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a prisoner of war in Germany. He was a member of 8th & Grand Church of Christ in Artesia. Survivors include his wife Dorothy Joy of Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad; daughters Marlyn J. Hair, husband Alan, of Bangs, Tex., and Carla Bratcher, husband Kenneth, of Artesia; sons Jimmie Joy, wife Kaye, of Roscoe, Tex., Jack Joy wife Diana, of Artesia, and Johnny Joy, wife Michelle K., of Lake Arthur; brother J.B. Joy of San Angelo, Tex.; 17 grandchildren; and three great-granchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandaughter, Kristel Verette.
