MARQUEZ Services are scheduled Thursday, October 7, at Our Lady Of Grace Catholic Church for Cruz Cortez Marquez of 402 Kemp. Marquez, 87, died on October 4 at her home. Interment will follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. A rosary is set for Wednesday, October 6, at Our Lady of Grace. She was born on October 29, 1911, in Presidio, Tex., to Mauro Cortez and Maria (Ornelas) Cortez. She married Luis M. Marquez on February 1, 1936, in Artesia. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1998. She was a member of Our Lady Of Grace Catholic Church. She is survived by sons Manuel Marquez and Fred Marquez, both of Albuquerque, NM, and Elijio Marquez and David Marquez, both of Longview, Tex.; daughters Delia Olguin of Artesia and Luisa Olivas, Ophelia Marquez and Mary Estrada, all of Odessa, Tex.; brothers Andres Cortez of Hobbs, NM, Juan Cortez of Tucson, Ariz., Mauro Cortez of Mora, NM, and Daniel Cortez of Artesia; sister Francisca Saiz of Artesia; foster brothers Refugio Cervantes of Artesia and Crispin Lara of El Paso, Tex., numerous grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons Rogelio Marquez and Luis Marquez, Jr., two brothers and a sister.
