(NM) Daily Press - January 9, 2000

OWENS
Graveside services are pending with Terpening and Son Mortuary
for former Artesian Ronald L. Owens of Detroit, Michigan.  Owens,
54, died on December 30 in Detroit following a lengthy illness
caused by a brain tumor.  Owens was born on November 22, 1945, in
Carlsbad, NM to Frank Owens and Nellie (VanNoy) Ownes.  He served
in the US Army from 1967 to 1970.  He was preceded in death by
a brother, Waynen, in 1962; his father in 1980 and his mother
on September 22, 1999.  Survivors are sisters Arlean Green of
Artesia and Carol Philips of Gibsonton, Fla.; brothers Ray Owens,
wife Verna, of Artesia, Lynn Owens, wife Virginia, of Pecos, Texas,
and John Owens, wife Lynn, of Artesia; and numerous nieces and
nephews.  Cremation has taken place.  Cremains will be interred at
Twin Oaks Memorial Park, in Artesia, at a date and time to be
