The following excerpts were taken from page 8 - The Artesia (NM) Daily Press - September 28, 1999 Obituaries PRUDE Services were held Monday, September 27, at Eighth and Grand Church of Christ in Artesia, for Birdie J. Prude of Artesia Good Samaritan Center. Prude, 96, died on September 25 at the center. Interment followed at Woodbine Cemetery. She was born on September 8, 1903, in Hope, NM to W.P. Riley and Lizzie Eleanor (Phillips) Riley. She married Johnnie Lee Prude on December 6, 1926, in Hope. She was a lifelong Hope area resident. She was a member of Eighth and Grand Church of Christ in Artesia. She is survived by a son, Norman Prude, wife Autherean, of Artesia; numerous grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Virginia Lou Prude, on September 26, 1950.
