BYRON J. SMITH
Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 1999
at the First United Methodist Church for Byron J. Smith of
1805 Runyan.  Smith, 83, died on August 21 at Covenant
Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.  Burial will be at Woodbine
Cemetery.  Smith was born on October 18, 1915, in Gilmer, Texas.
He was the son of Jake Smith and Frances M. (Baxter) Smith.
He married Pat Green in Gilmer, Texas on October 29, 1947. 
They came to Artesia in 1951 from Clovis, NM.  He served in the
Army during WWII.
