Terpening of 4903 Eastwind. Terpening, 72, died on December 12 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery. He was born on February 23, 1927, in Artesia to Ralph L. Terpening and Hester T. (Schneider) Terpening. He married Jean Mitchell on June 1, 1952 in Alamogordo, NM. He was a funeral director, the retired owner/operator of Terpening and Son Mortuary. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the Artesia Downtown Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, Jean of the family home; son Jerry Terpening, wife Nancy, of Artesia; daughter Susan Francis, husband James, of Hobbs, NM; brother Bill Terpening Sr. of Troup, Texas; grandchildren Amanda Terpening of Lubbock, Texas, Rebecca Terpening of Artesia and Barbara, Paul and Karen Francis, all of Hobbs; six nephews and four nieces.
