Submitted by: patti pennington ************************************************************ The following excerpts were taken from page 8 - The Artesia (NM) Daily Press - January 6, 2000 CHAVEZ A resurrection Mass was this morning at St. John's Catholic Church in Roswell, NM for former Artesia resident Juan De Dios Chavez of Roswell. Chavez, 87, died January 2 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell. Burial was at Memory Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Roswell. He was born July 10, 1912, in Tome, NM, to Juan and Maria Diaga Chavez, he married Margarita Sena on December 5, 1932, in Estancia, NM. She preceded him in death on November 24, 1988. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Bradley, and a granddaughter, Vigilia Dominguez. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Survivors include daughters Stella Ibarra and her husband, Cipriano, of Roswell; Lorie Gonzales of Roswell; Lucy Sanchez and her husband, Andy; and Dolores Dominguez and her husband, Joe, of California; 22 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
