Main in Artesia. Couch, 89, died on January 25 at the Artesia Good Samaritan Center in Artesia. Cremation is under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary. She was born on January 26, 1910, in Nubbin Hill, Ark., to General McCutcheon and Mary (Barnes) McCutcheon. She married Chester Guy Couch on October 9, 1927, in Copland, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1982. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star. They came to Artesia in 1951 from Clinton, Arkansas. She is survived by daughters Vada Smith of Roswell, NM and Clara Wright of Fairbanks, Alaska; brothers Woodrow McCutcheon of Oklahoma and Peck McCutcheon of California; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter Verva Godfrey; a son; and nine brothers and sisters.
