Cremation has taken place. Lewis died January 18 at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM. Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born June 25, 1949, to August Charles and Betty E. Fiddes Lewis in Cleveland. He grew up in the Cleveland area. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam conflict. He had moved to Albuquerque in the early 1980's where he worked at Kirtland Air Force Base. He married Darla Taylor on November 28, 1985 in Albuquerque. They moved to Carlsbad about 12 years ago. He was a member of the DAV. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Darla Lewis of Carlsbad; sons, Doug A. Lewis, Jr. of Cleveland, Steve Herbel of Carlsbad and Stacy Halley of Missoula, Mont.; daughters, Lisa Lewis of Cleveland and Dawn Mason of Artesia; brothers, August C. Lewis Jr. and Ralph E.
