She died January 27 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born on September 9, 1921, to Jesse and Rebecca "Bessie" Hayes Magby in Dog Canyon. She lived in the area most of her life. She married James David "Dee" Lewis on August 2, 1940, in Alamogordo, NM. They ranched at Panama Ranch from 1960 to 1980. In 1980 they moved to Hope, NM and then to Carlsbad in 1998. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters and her husband on October 1, 1998. Survivors include two sisters, Jewel Holley and Josephine Offut of Carlsbad. (Photo shown of Lewis)
