LEWIS, MATTIE
Graveside services for Mattie I. Lewis, 100, will be January 10 at
Carlsbad Cemetery.  Lewis died January 5 at Landsun Health Service
Center.  Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mattie Irene Lewis was born March 2, 1899, in Alma, Tenn., to
William Truitt and Susanna Keeton Newport.  The centenarian was
a 50 year resident of Carlsbad.  She was a member of First Church
of the Nazarene.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Evalyn
Lynch, on March 11, 1988.  Survivors include a daughter, Lois Hardy
of Denver, CO; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 12 great-
great-grandchildren; and six great-great-great-grandchildren.  (Photo
