She was born June 28, 1893, to Jose "Isabel" Ogas and Justa Lincoln Ogas in Santa Rosalia, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was the eldest of four children. She would have been 107 years old this year. When she was five, her father died and left her mother to raise her. She married Pascual Elizondo I. The couple was only married four years before he died of influenza. She had a daughter who died at birth, and one son, Pascual Ogas Elizondo, who preceded her in death in 1999. Her only son, Pascual, and his wife of 50 years, Olivia Ortega Elizondo, gave Maria 11 grand- children. One grandson, Edwardo Ogas Elizondo, also preceded her in death. She had lived in Carlsbad 101 years. She had been a member of San Jose Catholic Church for about 100 years. Survivors include 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Ruth Alice Geary was born July 1, 1918, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Albert G. and Erna L. Kuessel Meyers. She was raised in the Milwaukee area, graduating from Washington High School in Milwaukee. She married Joseph R. Geary on Apri 27, 1946. They had their children in Milwaukee and in 1964 moved to Fargo, ND. In 1983, they moved to Carlsbad. She was a member of the Lake Carlsbad Ladies Golf Association and St. Edward's Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Joseph R. Geary of Carlsbad; daughters, Kathleen Elmore of Atlanta Georgia and Susan Wilson of Houston, Texas; four grand- children; and five great-grandchildren. Gibbs, 94, of Carlsbad. A funeral is planned to be held at the Church Street Church of the Nazarene but a date has not been set. Mr. Gibbs died January 10 at the Life Care Center in Farmington, NM. Cope Memorial Chapel in Farmington is in charge of arrangements. Ernest N. Gibbs was born September 23, 1905, in Gordon, Texas, to Mr. and Mrs. N.S. Gibbs. He moved to Pittsburg County, Okla., in 1917 with his family. He married Mildred Goff in Wewoka, Okla., on August 4, 1927. He moved to Carlsbad in 1940. Mr. Gibbs was preceded in death by an infant daughter. Gideon, who died February 20. He was 92 years old. He was born December 2, 1907, in Ozarks, Mo., to Velva and Jefferson Ross Gideon. He was the eldest of four children, who all preceded him in death. He married Harvey Nell Hibler in Hot Springs, NM, in April 1946. He was a 54 year resident of Truth or Consequences, NM, was a small arms specialist in WWII, during which time he served his country overseas. He was a member of American Legion and VFW. Survivors include his wife, of the home; son Delbert Hampton Gideon, wife Glenda; grandson Devon Ross Gideon; and granddaughter Courtney Anne Gideon, all of Artesia. Yates, in 1953, in Lovington. After his dis- charge, he returned to Brownfield, later moving to Hobbs, NM, where he joined the Police Department. He moved to Carlsbad in 1971. He married Fidela Valanzuela on September 13, 1942, in Alpine, TX. He enlisted in the Navy on December 6, 1944, and was honorably discharged as a Seaman Second Class on March 14, 1946. After his discharge he and his family moved to Loving. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Maria Belia; brothers, Balbino, Mauro and Elojio Granado; and sisters, Santiaga Lopez, Antonio Vera, Julia Huerta, Maria Cadena, Manuela Granado and Rosa Garcia.
