She was born August 31, 1914, to Thomas and Bonnie Norfleet at Running Water Draw near Olton, Texas. As a young child, the family moved to Silver, Texas, and then to Lovington, NM, where she graduated from high school in 1931. Soon after graduation, she married Marion Alzugary in Carlsbad on October 2, 1931. The couple ranched on the Graham Ranch near Hobbs in Lea County. They moved to Carlsbad in the early 1940's. Marion was a successful rancher until his death in 1967. In September 1969, she married Earl Martin. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1995. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, J.T. and Herman Norfleet. She is survived by a brother, Ned Norfleet of Oceanside, California. He was born October 22, 1920, in Carlsbad to Thomas B. and Delia Calvani Martin. He attended St. Edwards Catholic School and Carlsbad High School. He joined the Navy in 1942 where he attended the Point Loma Radar School. He received advanced training in Little Creek, Va. He was assigned to a destroyer escort serving 2 1/2 years and in five major invasions. His ship was part of the lead destroyer group, which entered Tokyo Bay at Japan's surrender. He married Velam Jean Lindsey on August 28, 1948, in Carlsbad. He was a longtime member of Epworth United Methodist Church. He was the Master of Felix Lodge No 29 AF & AM and past Master of Eddy Lodge No. 21 AF & AM. He was a member of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association, VFW Lakeside Post No. 3277, and the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by a sister. Moutray, 88, on April 25 at First United Methodist Church. A private family interment will take place April 25. He died April 22 at Landsun Homes Inc. Denton- Funchess Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born May 10, 1911, in El Campo, TX, to James G. and Maud Belle Moutray. He grew up in the El Paso, TX valley, graduating from Valley High School in Anthony, NM, in 1929. In 1931, his father, James G. Moutray, and brother, Jim B. Moutray, joined in partnership with Hugh to create J.G. Moutray and Sons at Seven Rivers, NM. He married Willo Dean Heston in Carlsbad, June 18, 1937. His father passed away in 1939 after which he and Jim B. formed Moutray Brothers Inc. He and his family made significant investments in this area including an expansion of their operations into ranching and crop dusting. In 1954, they took their crop dusters to Managua, Nicaragua. Hugh was later honored by being appointed Vice Counsel to Nicaragua. In 1948, he and his friends chartered the People's State Bank of Artesia, later becoming Western Bank. In a seperated venture in 1974, he joined Bank Securities Inc., a bank holding company which later became United New Mexico, which in turn, sold to Norwest in 1994. His brother retired in 1971 and Hugh retired in 1978. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim B., in 1982, and two sisters, Mrs. Hope Mashaw and Mrs. B.C. Graham. Survivors include his wife, Willo Dean Moutray, of Carlsbad; son, H. Gil Moutray and wife, Vicki, of Carlsbad; daughters, Dona Kippenberger of Thomas, OK, and Barbara Rickert of Dallas, TX; 10 grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren.
