Submitted by: patti pennington ************************************************************ The following excerpts were taken from page 14 - The Artesia (NM) Daily Press - January 23, 2000 PARKS Services are scheduled for January 25 at Bethel Baptist Church in Artesia for Betty Lois Parks of 1601 W. Centre Ave. Apt G4. Parks, 65, died January 20 in Artesia. Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery. She was born on November 28, 1934, in Marshall, Texas, the daughter of H.T. Sands and Minnie Jane (Ingram) Sands. She married Levi Parks in 1968, in California. She came to Artesia in 1945 from Forney, Texas, moved to California in the early 1950's and returned to Artesia in 1996. She was a licensed evangelist. She was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie J. Taylor and H.T. Sands; stepfather Curtis Taylor Sr.; and daughter Ruth Ann Giles. Survivors include son Horace Giles, wife Rachell, of Lubbock, Texas; brothers Jimmy Lee Taylor, wife Roberta, of Artesia, and Curtis Adell Taylor of Los Angeles, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two aunts; many cousins; and former husband Samuel Giles Sr., of San Antonio, Texas.
