Interment will follow in House Cemetery, House, NM. Shirley died January 3 at her home. West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Lorraine "Lucky" Shirley was born May 12, 1931, in Hartford, Conn. She was raised and educated in Hartford, graduating from high school there. She and her dad moved to Raton, NM after her graduation. She became a horse trainer for the racetrack in Raton. She married Chesley "Tex" Shirley on January 19, 1956. They formed a band named "The Best of Tex and Lucky, The Traveling Sweethearts" and performed throughout New Mexico and the Southwest. Tex died in July 1980. She then moved to Loving, NM. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include sons, Darwin D. Shirley of Seminole, Texas, and Warren D. "Flip" Shirley of Caldwell, Texas; daughters, Debara B. Shirley of Caldwell, Nada E. O'Conner of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Annala J. Walker of Galveston, Texas; brother, Jack Davis of Hartford, Conn.; sister, Gladys Shirley of Carlsbad; 11 grandchildren; and her companion, Max. (Photo shown of Shirley)
