  DEMING. Pop 2,500. Luna county. The county seat on the S P R R and at the
junction of the A T & S F and E P & S W Rys 88 miles n w of El Paso Tex. One
hundred thousand acres of agricultural lands surround the town and a system of
irrigation is being developed by water pumped from wells. Deming is in the
center of a rich mining district and a vast cattle raising country. Has
Catholic, Christian, Episcopal, Methodist, Mexican Methodist and Presbyterian
churches, 2 banks, 4 hotels, a central electric power plant which furnishes
light for the city and power for pumping water for irrigation, a hospital, 3
opera houses and a live commercial body with 150 active members and a paid
secretary who will answer all inquiries concerning this section of the county.
Two weekly newspapers the Graphic and Headlight are published. Daily auto stage
