L. Polk (1912) ANTONIO LUCERO. Hon. Antonio Lucero. Secretary of the State of New Mexico, was born on a farm near Las Vegas, New Mexico, October 6th, 1863. Was educated in private schools and with Jesuit Fathers at Las Vegas. His parents were Pablo Lucero and Manuelita S. Lucero. Mr. Lucero's first occupation was in a printing office, where he began to learn the printer's trade. Then, he engaged as a clerk in a dry goods store. Later he became court interpreter and afterwards newspaper writer. Still later, he became Professor of Spanish in the Normal School and the University of Las Vegas and also at the high-school located at same place. He was married on April 8th, 1893, and has six children. He was delegate to the National Convention at St. Louis in 1904 and was elected to the legislature of New Mexico in 1902. He is now Secretary of State of New Mexico.
