The GAR, aka the Grand Army of the Republic, was a fraternal organization composed of veterans of the American Civil War (the Union Army, the Union Navy, and Marines, as well as the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service). The first burial in the cemetery also occurred in 1884. Driving Directions:I-25 Exit 63, W on NM152 to Hillsboro; continue 8 mi W to Kingston. At Kingston, Main Street continues straight ahead, but follow NM 152 an additional 0.4 mi to cemetery on NW side of highway.
