BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES OF PROMINENT MEN IN SOCORRO COUNTY Below are biographical sketches of some prominent men in Socorro county at the turn of the century. They are based on short biographies that were originally from 1-4 paragraphs long, that were published in the book "History of New Mexico: Its Resources and People, volume II" (see above.) I have summarized the biographies to include only certain information. If you wish to read the unabridged biographies, I suggest that you find a copy of the book at your local library. The author apparently interviewed these men or their family to get their stories. Most of these men seem to have been alive when this book was written. My summaries are written in the present tense as the articles were originally written. If the summary says that a person is alive, it obviously means that the person was alive as of the writing and not today. Leondro Baca, Sheriff of Socorro County. Born March 8, 1851 in La Joya, NM.
