In 1800, Governor Fernando Chacon was directed to resettle Sevilleta, Socorro , Senecu and Alamillo. Sevilleta was the first to be reestablished. Caravans assembled there before beginning their treks to Chihuahua. By 1817, Socorro was reestablished when 70 people were granted land in the area. Senecu & Alamillo were never reestablished. The Spanish colonists in the area were subjugated to numerous Indian attacks during the period. Even with that threat, there were few soldiers garrisoned in the area. Sevillita had only seven soldiers. Other communities had militias. Individuals were forced to join under penalty of law. Below is a roster of 50 soldiers at Belen/Sabinal in 1819.
