L. Polk (1912) JULIUS MEYER Sheriff Torrance County, N. M. Born Paris, Monroe County, Mo., 1866, July 18, son of Jacob and Anna Meyer. Builder. Moved to western Texas in 1873 on ranch, stockraising. Came to N. M. 1884 in cattle raising. Married 1888 to Libradita Sanchez, worked at blacksmithing till 1905. Then was appointed by Governor Otero to the Territorial Mounted Police and was reappointed by Governors Hagerman and Curry, which continued till elected Sheriff 1908. Was re-elected 1911 for 5 year term. Is also engaged in the Salt manufacturing business with Captain Fornoff, with whom he is also engaged in live stock breeding near Estancia. He has nine children.
