L. Polk (1912) MANUEL SANCHEZ, Jr. County Clerk of Torrance County. Born Tajique, N. M. 1886. Son of Manuel and Epifania Benavidez Sanchez of near Estancia. His father was first sheriff of Torrance County and served three years as sheriff. He is an attorney and rancher. Manuel, Jr., was educated at St. Michael's College, Santa Fe, then was interpreter for the Grand Jury, also Committee Clerk at Constitutional Convention. In the first statehood election, 1911, he was elected County Clerk of Torrance County for 5 years term. He is also engaged in ranching. He was married in 1910 to Lucy Aragon and has two children.
