The Belen Grant consisted of 200,000 acres. The boundaries were to the East, the Sandia Mountains, on the West, the Rio Puerco River, North, the lands of Nicolas Chavez and on the South, the place called Felipe Romero. Under the Congressional Land Grant Act of December 22, 1758, the grant was confirmed not to the individual claimants, but to the town of Belen.
