                          Empire

This camp is situated on the Virginia & Truckee R R 3 miles east of Carson 
City, the banking point, and 14 miles south of Virginia City. It is on
the Carson River, which at this point furnishes power and is the center 
of a great mineral belt known as the Pine Nut Range. The Gypsum quarries
are 6 miles north. Has a large plaster factory with a capacity of 300 tons 
daily. Wells, Fargo & Co Exp and W U Tel. Telephone with all surrounding towns.
