SUPERINTENDENT OF CARSON CITY SCHOOLS DIES IN CALIFORNIA

E. L. McKEOWAN, who has been connected with Nevada schools for the last 
fifteen years, and for the last four years superintendent of schools in 
Carson City, died in the Morten hospital in San Francisco Sunday following 
an operation for appendicitis.
    McKEOWN left Carson City with his wife and daughter on June 23 for a 
vacation trip by auto through California.  He entered a San Francisco 
hospital two weeks ago and underwent an operation.
    He first became identified with the schools of Nevada when he became 
principal of the Genoa, Douglas county, school.  After teaching there for a 
year he completed a course at Stanford university and then returned to 
Nevada to become principal of the elementary schools at Fallon.  From Fallon 
he went to Goldfield, where he was principal of both the high school and 
elementary grades.  Four years ago he went to Carson City to succeed W. J. 
HUNTING as superintendent of the Carson schools.
    Funeral services were conducted at San Jose, Cal., Wednesday.
