St. Thomas Cemetery Overton, Clark County, Nevada Contributed by Gerry Perry Copyright 2012 R 7/2/2012 *********************************************************************************************** The St. Thomas Cemetery is located on a hill south of Overton. When Lake Mead was formed and the Hoover Dam was built, two towns were buried under the waters of the lake. Most of the persons buried in the cemeteries of Kaolin and St. Thomas, Nevada, were reinterred to cemeteries located in Overton, Logandale and to this cemetery. There were many unidentified bodies that were reinterred to the aforementioned cemeteries. The Department of the Interior published a report of the interments. Access to that report is available on the photo page at the URL identified below. Today, there are many more "Early Pioneers, Early Pioneer Adults, Early Pioneer Children, Early Pioneer Infants and Early Pioneer Males then are identified in the Department of Interior report. The cemetery is well kept, has benches throughout and maintains the desert landscape of many early or rural cemeteries.
