She was born in Stockton, Calif., Dec. 26, 1921, to Milo and Amber Crosby. Kate was one of Hollywood's early starlets taking the stage name of Cay Forester. Upon being accepted into the Actors Studio, she studied under Lee Strasburg in New York and helped open the Actors Studio West. Kate was also the vice president of the local chapter and chairman of the Professional Theatre and Workshop of the American National Theatre Academy (ANTA) in Hollywood, Calif. In addition to her career, much of her time was spent fundraising for charitable and political concerns. Kate's three daughters, Cynthia Shuman, Mila Flower-Reeder (David) and Amber Tubbs, survive her; along with five grandchildren, Karith (Howard), Nicholas, Alana (Aaron), Kelsey-Rae and Kristin; and five great-grandchildren, Teddy, Grace, Katherine, Ayris and Wesley. She is also survived by her family and friends at El Jen Convalescent Center who were so loving and gracious to her. A private service will be held in Palm Springs, Calif.
