B. Beall, one of the pioneers of Las Vegas was found dead in his bed at his home on First street last Monday morning at 11:00. The neighbors noticed that the house remained closed Monday morning, nothing being seen of the old gentlemen. Becoming alarmed Mr. Gibson and Mr. Arnold started an investigation about 11:00 a.m. breaking through the door. The house was found tightly closed even the inside doors being shut. On entering the bedroom the old gentleman was found sleeping peacefully - the long sleep. A lamp still burning on the table indicated that death occured sometime during the night before. The last time he was seen alive was Sunday morning about 9:00 when he appeared to be in his usual health. The coroners inquest was held before Judge Lillis on Monday afternoon, the jury being composed of Harley Harmon, foreman, J. S. Wisner, Chas. Ireland, R. A. Ferguson, L. Holcom and C. C. Murray. There being no evidence of foul play, the jury returned a verdict to the effect that the deceased came to his death from natural causes. The deceased was a man who was quiet and inoffensive, making few intimate acquaintances. He was reticent with rgard to his affairs and little is known of his past life save the fact that he had a wife residing in Chamberlain, S.D. He left some property consisting of the house in which he lived and two other small houses, with three Las Vegas town lots. Papers which he left indicate that he was possessed of a lot in the town of Waverly, Wash. He was one of the pioneers of Vegas having lived for several months in Old Town before Clark's townsite was opened. He had the friendship and respect of all that knew him in this vicinity. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Harry G. Gray officiating and the remains were interred in the cemetery at the Ranch.
