S. Bowman died in the Las Vegas hospital Sunday night as the result of injuries received when he tried to ride a horse near his home in the Moapa Valley. It appears that the lad tried to mount the horse but was unsuccessful, his foot catching in the stirrup and he falling to the ground as the horse started to move. Then, frightened, the horse ran around and around, dragging the helpless boy and beating his head repeatedly against obstructions. The victim was furthered inured by blows of the halter chain which was swinging from the horse's neck. The breaking of the stirrup strap finally released the unconscious form. The alarm was given as soon as his plight was discovered and he was brought to Vegas in a car by Dr. L. B. Sandall and a son of S. H. Wells. It was feared that the boy would die on the way, but he survived until 10:30 that evening when he died of brain injuries in spite of all the efforts to save his life. NOTE: Deceased is interred at the Pioneer Cemetery in Overton, Nevada
