A rock on the track was the cause of the catastrophe. The wrecker was hurried to the scene, accompanied by Trainmaster ARCHIBALD, Dr. HEWETSON and Conductor WILLIAMS. A special was sent out to bring in the bodies of those who had been killed and those who had been injured. Brakeman GEYER was not well known in Vegas, as he was a newcomer, this being his first trip, but he was spoken highly of by his associates. Walter CLAY, however, has been here a number of years and was known and liked by all. He was a young man of excellent character and his loss is deeply mourned by his many friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning by the B.R.T., the Rev. E. A. PALMER officiating. The bodies of both were sent east for interment. Mrs. GEYER and her brother accompanied Brakeman GEYER's body, while N. E. WILLIAMS took Conductor CLAY's back to the home of his parents near Joplin, Missouri.
