CONNELLY, former residents of Goodsprings and Las Vegas. Harold CONNELLY had been working for the government at the site of the proposed dam in Boulder Canyon since last December, saving every cent of his money in order to return to Stanford University and complete his course in mining engineering. The day of his departure was not far. On Sunday morning he went in swimming at the point frequented daily by the government employees engaged in the work there, but the current seemed to have changed and the treacherous flood carried him away from the shore in spite of his struggles to free himself from its deadly grasp. Two of Harold's companions made heroic efforts to rescue him but found their efforts powerless against the current running. Those who attempted the rescue had narrow escapes from losing their own lives. A motor boat was put out from shore, but it too, was of no avail, the strong current carrying it over the rapids. Mr. and Mrs. CONNELLY, the parents, were at once notified at their home at Parashant Mountain, Arizona, and both were prostrated by the shock. Mr. CONNELLY offers to pay two hundred dollars to anyone finding the body, which can be identified by the right hand, the tips of the first three fingers having been cut off. Anyone finding the body is requested to notify the nearest coroner, and to wire Clinton AVERETT, at Logandale, via Moapa, Nevada. Mr. CONNELLY can be reached by mail at Wolfhole, Arizona. The CONNELLYs are well known in all portions of Clark county and their many friends are extending sincerest sympathy in the loss of their son. Harold CONNELLY was a fine young man, clean and industrious, working hard to get the education he desired. His untimely death is a loss to the community and to the state, as well as to his family and friends.
