We are grieved to chronicle the death of Mr. COTTON, who had but recently, moved to Las Vegas with his wife, to spend the winter at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roy W. MARTIN. The deceased was born in New York in 1846 and about the close of the civil war he came west and settled in Iowa. From there he moved to Tablerock, Neb., residing there until October 29th of this year, when he came, with Mrs. COTTON, to this city. After being here a week they went to Los Angeles, where Mr. COTTON rapidly grew worse from a malady which had been troubling him for about a year and a half, and he was ????? to undergo an operation. For a time he seemed to be doing well, but his strength was not sufficient to carry him through. Mr. and Mrs. COTTON had a family of six children, of whom three are living, two brothers and the daughter, Mrs. MARTIN. Mrs. COTTON, Mr. MARTIN and one son, Geo. A. COTTON, were at the bedside when the end came. The remains were taken to Tablerock for interment. The widow expects to return to Vegas in a few weeks to remain for the winter. Mrs. MARTIN has the sincere sympathy of all in her bereavement.
